About me
I’ve been working in public libraries for a while now, starting out as a page and working my way up through various roles at front desks, in the programming department, on the bookmobile, and in community engagement. Over time, I’ve also taken on more leadership positions which have given me a well-rounded perspective on how libraries serve their communities. Right now, I’m the Strategic Planning and Evaluation Associate Director, focusing on how to create and implement long-term plans for the library system.
I earned my MLIS from the University of Washington, with an emphasis in data science, which means I like using data to inform decision-making and planning. I also attended PLA’s Boot Camp on the "For Results" model and have used it in multiple planning cycles, always adapting it to modern needs like equity, diversity, and inclusion, as well as digital literacy.
Outside of my current role, I’ve worked in museums and medical libraries, which has broadened my perspective on information management. I’ve been lucky enough to be featured in several ALA and librarianship publications, and I’m a member of ALA, PLA, and CORE. I’ve presented at conferences all over Washington state, sharing what I’ve learned along the way.
I value learning, creativity, and humor and I try to incorporate those values into my work. I believe public libraries are a testament to what we can achieve when we work towards a common good and I feel they are one of the true markers of a democracy.
